This small booklet teaches that spiritual maturity is not measured by age, ability, or accomplishment, but by submission to the Word of God and surrender to the will of God. The Israelites were redeemed by faith, yet turned from faith to flesh (that is, self-centered living by trusting in their human wisdom, human ability, human effort, and human strength), and thus, were not permitted to enter into the Land of Promise, or the life of rest.

By being unwilling to go on to spiritual maturity, that is, living life by faith in Christ, a believer, can forfeit––not his salvation––but the abundant life in Christ.
